This is book one in the Bourbon Boys series, and I won’t lie, I will be diving into the other books ASAP!
Grant Foxx, well fan me down. I didn’t take an immediate liking to him as a character, but I have a weakness for grumpy personalities, and it wasn’t long before he charmed me.
Ex-policeman Grant Foxx, who has transitioned into a Bourbon maker at the family-run distillery, has suffered the loss of his partner (and secret love interest) leaving him understandably damaged.
In comes Laney Young, and he is far from pleased to find the mystery woman living next door to him, although his dog is delighted! As are his nieces.
Laney is a ray of sunshine and she’s a strong character. I loved their banter. She finds herself in a witness protection programme but quickly makes her new home a home, even though she knows it’s temporary.
Grant knows she’s keeping a secret and intends to find out what it is. Why else would she suddenly turn up in the middle of the night and land on his doorstep?
Even though their attraction is mutual, neither have any expectation other than it being temporary.
However, their pasts suddenly resurface in the present and its game-on in every way.
Be warned….its a slow burn kind of spice but when it hits…it really hits! And it certainly earns is ‘mature themes’ warning!
I really enjoyed it and I can’t wait to read more of the Bourbon Boys.
