Social Media has been blamed for a lot…and there’s no denying that there is a lot of truth in there. It has been blamed for the negative effect on the younger generation who compare themselves to the beautiful and perfect images on those little grids.
As adults we know that perfection rarely exists and so most of us, dismiss these images knowing that for the most part they have filters, have been digitally enhanced in some way so LOOK perfect. That after all, seems to be the name of the game.
But there are many positives to be had too. On RABP we have each found people we have connected with. In fairness, mine are all a bit sweary, crazy, forthright ‘ladeez’ and I’m chuffed silly by it.
My two favourites are ‘creatives’…one is a painter (not the decorating type although she could probably does that too!) and the other wrote a book during lockdown (I will be reviewing shortly!)
But these two bring something into my life that I need. I love our little communications; they never fail to make me smile. Our connection is strong. Soul-mates if you will. Soul mates to me aren’t about love. You can skip this part if you think I’m crazy but I believe that a soul mate is somebody you have met over and over in past lives. You recognise each other and that’s why the bond/connection is strong. I bloody hope I find these two in my next life. I am a firm believer that the people who are meant to be in your life will find to you. That paths that are meant to cross, will indeed, cross.
Oh the irony! I’ve lost track of how many times I have said to my boys ‘don’t you dare talk to anybody you don’t personally know; that you haven’t personally met’ (I don’t add that caveat to that…that Mum personally approves of’ but it’s there). They know it’s there. My boys, thankfully, have no interest in anything social media. Apparently, it’s full of people who are just too ‘extra’.
So, when the social media bashing is in full pelt, I for one, am grateful that it has allowed these two particular ladies to enter my life.
Ladies, you know who you are.
